Our Intermediate/advanced programming is for dancers between the ages of 11-16 years old. Under the discretion of our staff, we allow our dancers to perform solos, duets/trios and perform in all of team dances.
Ballet II- Ballet II is for children who have completed Ballet I or have some previous ballet experience. Students develop a strong carriage of arms (port de bras) and begin larger body movements in classical posture. Stronger balance and jumps are incorporated while beginning preparations for turns. Proper ballet vocabulary is and a full understanding of barre exercises are emphasized. Balance on one foot and two feet in demi pointe are established along with sustained leg lifts and proper foot position in tendu.
Pre-Pointe- Pre-Pointe is for children who have currently enrolled in Ballet II. Clarity in all work including body placement, feet and arm positions, and linking steps in complex combinations are required of students in Pre-pointe. Students should be able to sustain 90-degree extensions, perform simple pirouettes while spotting, and have an understanding of all Grande positions as pointe work is being introduced.
Hip Hop II- Hip hop II includes a wide range of styles primarily isolations and popping, voguing, locking, a breaking. Dancers learn strong movements that are low and grounded and focus on their center. Hip hop is known to be a very fun style of dance and LocoMotion is primarily known for!
Modern II- Modern dance combines the strong but controlled legwork of ballet with modern that stresses on torso with contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance. Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used along with incorporates elements of non-western dance cultures, such as elements from African dance.
Majorette II- This 65 minute class helps to sharpen technique and execution of the skills introduced in our Beginner majorette class. Skills are also built upon to create more dynamic skills and performance quality is introduced.
Jazz II- This 65 minute class helps to sharpen technique and execution of the skills introduced in our Beginner jazz class. Skills are also built upon to create more dynamic skills and performance quality is introduced.
Tumbling II- This 55 minute class helps to sharpen technique and execution of the skills introduced in our Beginner tumbling class. Skills are also built upon to create more dynamic skills and strength training to improve gymnastics performance is introduced.
